The project was born thanks to Carmen Carreras and today continues with her son, Daniel García, keeping the family tradition alive while incorporating improvements so that each experience in this large rural house for groups is even more comfortable and special.

A bit of history…

Can Micos is a 17th-century Catalan masia, located among farmland on the outskirts of Riudarenes, in the heart of Catalonia. The house was acquired by the family in 1862 and, for generations, it was a traditional farming masia, completely linked to the land and the rhythm of rural life.

Like many masias in the area, Can Micos was for years home, stable and livelihood: the family dwelling coexisted with space for animals, the hayloft where the harvest was stored and the vegetable garden that ensured self-sufficiency.

The house preserves the original structure of that time, maintaining its character and essence, adapted to a new way of living it.

The history of Riudarenes is marked by one of the most relevant episodes in Catalonia: the Reapers’ War (Guerra dels Segadors). Around 1640, troops led by Leonardo Moles looted and burned the village, including the parish church of Sant Sadurní de Montiró.

This event had a strong impact on the society of the time and was so significant that it was reflected in the well-known song Els Segadors, becoming one of the events that drove the Catalan revolt against the government of Philip IV.

Today, Riudarenes preserves the calm of a rural village, with centuries of history behind it, and hosts Can Micos as a living part of that legacy.
